A few years ago, Omni signed an agreement with a big client, an electrical wholesaler in Australia, this forced the business to evaluate its software to match up with their suppliers and customer’s software.
Omni Electrical had been using MYOB AccountRight, very successfully since 2013, whilst the solution was great for a small business, it lacked the finesse and detailed inventory management a larger growing business needed. “MYOB AccountRight was very limited for a growing business, with only basic invoicing”. Omni needed multi-warehousing, sales price structures, sales promotions, item purchase management – all these issues just could not be handled by MYOB AccountRight.
This resulted in the business using multiple disparate spreadsheets, and access to accurate and real-time information was hard to come by or not available, time-consuming and frustrating.
“In our industry, the tracking and traceability of batches or lots for warranty claims are critical”, says Lance, Director from Omni. This meant that other apparent choices like Xero also was a non-starter, even with inventory add-ons like Cin7. The business required something more robust to cater for their growth and needed their inventory to be managed in detail but tightly integrated with their other operational systems from sales to purchasing. And so, they embarked on looking at various ERP solutions.
Since MYOB is such a trusted brand in Australia, OMNI reached out to them to see if they have anything to offer in this space.
